What customers say?

“ reasonable priced homemade pasta. you really can't go wrong with any of the pastas. some crowd favs were the fiocchetti al gorgonzola and the raditori rustica. get the chicken marsala if you're super hungry or want leftovers but it might be a tad too salty for salt sensitive people. for appetizers, I recommend the calamari and the mussels! both are cooked to perfection. mussels weren't sandy or fishy. ”

- Chloe Chuang -

“ Didn’t expect this good. Even the homemade sauce that came with the free bread basket made me want to steal the recipe immediately. No joke. The bruschetta was mind blasting; extremely freshly baked bread with thoroughly seasoned tomatoes.(not just drizzled with balsamic but well mixed.) The Radiatori rustica was very creamy and well balanced. The Tagliolini Nero di seppia was extraordinary, big shrimps and mussels, olive oil garlic tomato sauce just so simple and elegantly seasoned. Will come back countless times for sure. ”

“ A little charming restaurant in downtown San Mateo, homemade bread with delicious dipping sauce. We had fried calamari and squid ink pasta (hand made in the shop) with prawns and mussels exceeding our expectations, definitely will visit again to try other dishes. ”

“ We had a wonderful meal at Sapore Express! All the food was fresh and delicious and the radiatori rustica was totally amazing. The pasta was unique (I had never had radiator pasta before) and the sauce was a scrumptious blend of savory and sweet. It’s a simple and pleasant atmosphere, and the prices were very reasonable. This place is now one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the Penninsula. We will definitely be back! ”

“ Giving this a five star due to the quality of the food, and the wine, even though it is sooo reasonable, its incredibly good too. The ambience is nice, but don’t let the dark exterior fool you. Or the word express. It is certainly not your typical “express” anything. It is delightful, relaxing, beautiful Italian music, and simply divine food. Service has always been good everyone we good here. ”

“ my experience at Sapore Express was nothing short of fantastic. The combination of fresh, flavorful pasta and exceptional service makes this restaurant a standout in the culinary scene. I highly recommend Sapore Express to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience that tantalizes the taste buds and leaves you wanting more. The Calamari Fritti is out of this world. I can't wait to return and indulge in their delectable dishes once again. ”

“ At first I thought it was a takeout place and almost left but omg I’m so glad they came and offered me a table before I could leave because this place was incredible. The specialty is clearly the house-made pasta, which is excellent, but even the bread and dipping oil was fab. We got the polpetone starter and they were great too, really flavourful, even my brother said it was as good as his (he makes incredible polpetone). The service was very friendly too. ”

“ Came to an unassuming chill looking Italian place that looked like a fast casual spot, ended up having some of the best pasta of my life. The radiator pasta is crazy good! Even the house wines were solid. Coming back because I don’t want to wait an hour for Taishoken! ”
